| Reverse description | The personification of Spes (Hope) is depicted standing and advancing to the left, rendered in flowing drapery with elegant linear folds characteristic of Hadrianic classicizing style. In her raised right hand she holds a flower presented forward, while her left hand gathers and lifts the hem of her garment. The large senatorial authority marks S and C (Senatus Consultum) are prominently placed in the left and right fields respectively, flanking the central figure. The reverse legend P M TR P COS III runs around the upper periphery of the flan. |
