| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered with naturalistic detail including the emperor's characteristic short beard. The effigy displays finely engraved hair with individual curling locks, and the drapery falls over the left shoulder. The surrounding legend in Latin capitals reads IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, distributed around the periphery within a beaded border. The portrait reflects the classicising Hellenistic aesthetic favoured by Hadrian's court engravers at the Rome Mint. |
