Reverse description Hadrian on horseback advancing left, the emperor depicted in military dress raising his right hand in salute while holding a spear in his left hand, a composition celebrating the imperial expedition (Expeditio Augusti). The horse is shown in a dynamic walking pose, conveying imperial authority and martial prowess. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the lower field to either side of the horse, affirming the senate's sanction of this large bronze issue. The encircling legend occupies the peripheral border, with EXPED AVG referencing Hadrian's celebrated travels throughout the provinces.
