Reverse description Hadrian, togate, seated left upon a raised tribunal platform, extending his right hand in a gesture of beneficence toward a male citizen advancing from the right, who reaches upward while holding the fold of his toga to receive largesse. Behind the emperor, the personification of Liberalitas stands left, emptying a cornucopia held in both hands, symbolising the imperial distribution of wealth. The composition commemorates one of Hadrian's celebrated acts of liberalitas, likely the remission of debts owed to the treasury. The field bears the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the reverse scene, and the legend LOCVPLETATORI ORBIS TERRARVM runs around the periphery.
