| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing left, draped and cuirassed, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear. The emperor's effigy is depicted with characteristic Hadrianic beard and wreathed head, the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The circumferential Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, distributed around the outer field of the flan. The portrait treatment reflects the refined Hellenistic artistic influence characteristic of Hadrianic coinage produced at the Rome mint. |
