| Obverse description | Bare-headed and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with short curly hair and a full beard rendered in the Hellenistic manner characteristic of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor wears a paludamentum (military cloak) fastened at the shoulder, with the cuirass visible at the truncation. The portrait is executed in high relief with finely detailed facial features. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, distributed around the periphery of the flan, contained within a beaded border. |
