| Reverse description | Fortuna, goddess of fortune, stands facing left in graceful contrapposto, draped in a long chiton and palla. In her right hand she holds a rudder, occasionally resting upon a globe, symbolizing divine guidance of fate, while her left arm cradles a cornucopia overflowing with abundance. The legend FORTVNA AVG arcs above the figure, and the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is placed in the lower field to either side of the goddess. The composition is characteristic of the Antonine-era reverse types emphasizing imperial prosperity and divine favor. |
