The vessel features a prominent prow with a figurehead — identifiable as Minerva Promachus, a Triton, or Pegasus — and a crew of rowers is visible amidships. The reverse legend arcs around the upper field and along the lower field, with S C flanking the exergual line in reference to the Senatorial authority under which the bronze coinage was issued.
