Obverse description Laureate bust of the emperor Hadrian, draped and cuirassed, facing left, depicted from the rear or side in a three-quarter view. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic Hadrianic style, with fine detail in the laurel wreath and the folds of the paludamentum over the cuirass. The encircling Latin legend occupies the outer field of the obverse.

(Translation: Hadrianus Augustus. Hadrian, emperor (Augustus).)
Reverse description A Roman galley or warship depicted sailing to the right, its hull and oars rendered in relief. The vessel is shown with a prominent stern and prow, evoking Hadrian's celebrated naval journeys and the concept of Felicitas as divine favour accompanying imperial voyages. The legend FELICITATI AVG COS III P P is distributed around the upper and outer field, with the senatorial authorization mark S C placed in the lower exergual area.
