Obverse description Laureate, cuirassed bust of the emperor Hadrian facing right, depicted with his characteristic short beard, the effigy rendered in high relief with carefully detailed hair curls and military pauldron visible at the truncation. The surrounding field bears the Latin imperial legend distributed along the outer rim. The portrait displays the refined Hadrianic sculptural style, combining military authority with the Hellenistic cultural affectations the emperor was known for.
