| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with the paludamentum visible at the shoulder, rendered with fine detail typical of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor is depicted with his characteristic short, curly beard and wavy hair beneath the laurel wreath, reflecting the Hellenistic artistic influence he favoured. A beaded inner border frames the design. The Latin legend is disposed around the periphery, reading from the lower left and continuing clockwise. |
