| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder as seen from the rear. The imperial effigy is rendered in the characteristic Hadrianic style with a short beard. The encircling Latin legend runs along the periphery of the flan, naming the emperor with his titles. The portrait exhibits the idealized yet individualized naturalism typical of Hadrianic court art. |
