| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and visible from the rear, rendered in high relief with characteristically full beard and naturalistic facial features. The imperial effigy displays Hadrian's distinctive physiognomy — broad forehead, curled beard, and a prominent laurel wreath — characteristic of the mature portraiture of his reign. The encircling legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, distributed around the bust within a beaded border. The die-cutting reflects the accomplished engraving style of the Roman imperial mint under Hadrian, with fine detail in the hair and drapery folds. |
