| Obverse description | Bare-shouldered, laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered with characteristic curly hair and short beard in the Hellenistic tradition. The effigy displays a strong, naturalistic portrait style typical of Hadrianic coinage, with finely modelled facial features. The encircling Latin legend runs along the beaded border of the flan. The bust is truncated at the shoulder, presenting the emperor without drapery or cuirass on this issue. |

The figure may rest one foot upon a helmet, further alluding to Roman military dominion over the region.
