| Obverse description | Bare-headed and bearded bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, draped at the shoulder, rendered with characteristic naturalistic portraiture typical of Hadrianic coinage. The emperor's curly hair and short, well-groomed beard are depicted with fine detail, reflecting the Hellenistic artistic influence Hadrian actively promoted. The legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS runs around the periphery of the flan, divided on either side of the bust, within a beaded border. The truncation of the bust reveals the draped paludamentum at the shoulder. |
