| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Hadrian facing right, with the drapery visible over the left shoulder viewed from the rear, the emperor's characteristic full beard rendered in fine curling detail. The effigy displays the distinctly Hellenic portraiture associated with Hadrian's coinage, with neatly layered laurel wreath atop wavy hair. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the bust within a beaded border. The high-relief modelling of the portrait is typical of the fine Roman imperial die-cutting of the Hadrianic period. |

| Reverse description | The personification of the province of Cappadocia stands facing left in full figure, wearing a turreted mural crown and military attire with a fringed cloak. In her extended left hand she holds a model of Mount Argaeus, the sacred volcanic peak of Cappadocia, while her right hand supports a vexillum (military standard). The large senatorial authority marks S and C are prominently placed to the left and right of the central figure respectively, flanking the personification in the open field. The legend CAPPADOCIA runs in the upper portion of the coin around the periphery within a beaded border. |
