| Reverse description | The personification of Aeternitas stands facing, head turned to the left, robed in a long chiton with arms outstretched and raised, holding aloft a bust of Sol (the sun god) in the right hand and a bust of Luna (the moon goddess) in the left hand, emblems of eternal, cyclical time. The figure is rendered in a frontal, hieratic stance with drapery falling in schematic vertical folds. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is placed in the field to either side of the figure at mid-height. The encircling legend AETERNITAS AVG is distributed in the upper and lower periphery, enclosed within a beaded border. |
