| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder, rendered in the characteristic bearded portrait style of his reign. The emperor's curly hair and short beard are depicted with fine detail, consistent with the official Hadrianic portrait type. The encircling Latin legend HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P runs along the periphery of the flan. The effigy is executed in high relief typical of Roman Imperial orichalcum coinage of the early second century AD. |
