| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic short beard and curled hair beneath the laurel wreath. The emperor's effigy is depicted with paludamentum visible at the truncation, conveying imperial authority. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portraiture follows the Hadrianic aesthetic tradition, distinguished by its naturalistic treatment of facial features and the distinctive Hellenic influence in the emperor's bearded appearance. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, typical of hammered orichalcum sestertii of this period. |
