| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered with characteristic beard and deeply modelled facial features in the Hellenistic artistic tradition favoured during his reign. The emperor's paludamentum is visible at the truncation, with drapery shown from behind or the side. The portrait displays the high-relief workmanship typical of Hadrianic bronze coinage. The encircling Latin legend runs along the beaded border of the flan. |

| Reverse description | Hadrian stands to the right in military dress, his right hand raised in adlocutio gesture and his left hand holding a scroll, receiving the personification of the province of Cilicia. Cilicia is depicted as a helmeted female figure standing to the left, extending a patera in one hand and bearing a vexillum (military standard) in the other. Between the two figures stands an altar, typically shown with a bull at its base, symbolising the sacrificial rites accompanying the imperial adventus ceremony. The scene commemorates Hadrian's celebrated visit to the province of Cilicia during his extensive tours of the eastern empire between AD 130 and 133. The senatorial authority authorising this emission is indicated by the S C (Senatus Consultum) in the field. |
