| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, draped at the shoulder, with the paludamentum visible at the truncation. The emperor's portrait exhibits the characteristic short beard and softly modelled features associated with Hadrian's official imagery. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The die work reflects the confident, classicising portrait style of the Roman Imperial mint during Hadrian's mature reign. |
