Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Germanicus facing right, rendered in naturalistic Roman portrait style with finely engraved wavy hair. The neck is bare and the truncation is plain. The circumferential Latin legend runs around the full periphery of the flan, identifying the honoree by name and lineage. The portrait is bold and well-centred, occupying the majority of the field in the manner typical of Julio-Claudian commemorative bronze issues.
