| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Galba facing left, rendered with realistic portraiture characteristic of the Julio-Claudian tradition, depicting an elderly, bearded visage with strong features. The effigy shows the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, with the laurel wreath clearly visible across the brow. A continuous Latin legend encircles the bust within the field, reading from left to right around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the vigorous relief typical of Rome Mint sestertii of the brief Galban reign, struck on a broad, heavy orichalcum or bronze flan. |
