| Obverse description | Laureate head of Emperor Galba facing right, depicted with aged, naturalistic features characteristic of Flavian-era portraiture. The bust is bare-shouldered, rendered in high relief with deeply cut lines conveying the emperor's advanced years. The encircling Latin legend reads SER SVLPI GALBA IMP CAESAR AVG TR P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the stern, authoritative bearing typical of Roman imperial coinage of the late Julio-Claudian and early Flavian transition period. The field shows the rough, slightly irregular surface common to hammered bronze sestertii of this era. |
