| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Domitian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic Flavian portraiture. The legend CAESAR AVG F DOMITIANVS COS VI runs around the circumference, identifying him as Caesar, son of Augustus, and consul for the sixth time. A beaded border frames the design. The portrait conveys the young prince's features with careful detail, consistent with the die-cutting style of the Rome mint under Vespasian. |

Domitian struck this issue as Caesar under his father Vespasian, not yet emperor — a distinction that matters for the series, since his titulature on coins shifted rapidly through 79 AD as first Vespasian died in June and then Titus assumed the purple. Issues from this transitional window can be difficult to assign with confidence, and RIC II.1's 2007 revision by Carradice and Buttrey substantially reclassified the Flavian sestertii, moving several types that earlier catalogs had placed under Titus back to Domitian's Caesarian coinage.
