Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Ephesian mint. The portrait occupies the central field with the circumferential Greek legend reading AYT K M AYP ANTΩNEINOC, identifying the emperor by his Augustan titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces exhibit heavy green patination consistent with prolonged burial, partially obscuring fine detail. The portrait conveys the characteristic youthful physiognomy associated with Caracalla's early co-regency representations.
