Obverse description Central field features the Visconti biscione device: a large coiled viper (serpent) displayed frontally, devouring a human figure, rendered in raised relief with bold, stylized lines characteristic of 14th-century Milanese die work. The motif is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend encircles the design between the inner beaded border and the outer toothed rim, reading clockwise from the top.
