A six-pointed star appears in the left field, while a staurogram (the Tau-Rho Christogram) is placed in the right field, affirming the Christian character of the late Roman imperial ideology. The mint mark CONOB appears in the exergue, denoting the Constantinople mint and the high purity of the gold used. The reverse legend VICTORIA AVGG encircles the design, invoking the victory of the augusti.
