| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Nero facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic thick neck and youthful, idealised features typical of early Neronian portraiture. The emperor is depicted without laurel wreath, a distinguishing feature of the semis denomination under Nero. A circular legend surrounds the bust, reading IMP NERO CAESAR AVG PONT, in raised Latin capitals. The field shows natural surface patination consistent with hammered bronze coinage of the period. |
