| Obverse description | Bare head of Nero facing right, rendered with characteristic curly hair and youthful features, with a small globe at the base of the neck truncation — a symbol of imperial dominion over the world. The effigy is boldly struck in high relief with strong modeling of the facial features. The encircling Latin legend runs along the periphery of the field, beginning at the lower left and continuing clockwise around the portrait. |

A round shield rests against one leg of the table, completing the composition. The design commemorates the Certamen Quinquennale, the quinquennial games established at Rome, and the reverse field carries the abbreviated senatorial authority mark S C flanking the legend. |
