| Obverse description | Bare-headed laureate bust of Nero facing right, rendered in the Roman imperial portrait style with strongly modelled facial features. The emperor is depicted with characteristic thick neck and youthful, idealized physiognomy. The surrounding circular legend reads NERO CAES AVG IMP, identifying him as Caesar, Augustus, and Imperator. The portrait fills the central field with the legend distributed around the periphery. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of mid-first-century hammered bronze coinage. |
