Additional information

The COS III P P titulature places this semis within Hadrian's third consulship, held from 119 AD onward, with the P P (Pater Patriae) honorific accepted in 128 AD — the combination narrows the window precisely to the last years before his health began its serious decline. Semisses of this period are notably scarcer than their sestertius and dupondius counterparts; the denomination was already losing practical relevance in daily commerce, and mint output reflected that diminishing demand.
