| Obverse description | Laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in a style typical of Hispanian provincial coinage, with fine hair detail beneath the laurel wreath. The portrait is set within a beaded border, occupying the central field. The encircling legend reads AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar and Father of the Fatherland, a title granted in 2 BC. The flan is irregular and somewhat clipped at one edge, consistent with the hand-struck character of the issue. |
