| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Augustan portrait style. The legend AVGVSTVS DIVI F runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar. The portrait exhibits fine detail in the laurel wreath and facial features typical of provincial Hispanic coinage of the Augustan period. The field around the bust is plain, and the flan shows the characteristic irregular edges of a hammered provincial issue. |
