Obverse description Bare laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Julio-Claudian portrait style. The legend encircles the effigy within the field, reading AVGVSTVS DIVI F, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar. The portrait displays fine engraved hair detail radiating beneath the laurel wreath, characteristic of Augustan provincial coinage from Hispania.
