| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the crowned Arms of Aragon — a shield bearing four vertical pales — surmounted by an open crown with fleurons, all rendered in relief in the hammered style. The devices are contained within a beaded inner circle, with the circular Latin legend distributed around the periphery. The irregular flan and characteristic die-struck relief are consistent with mid-17th-century Catalan municipal coinage. |

Manresa's 1642 copper seiseno belongs to the emergency coinage struck by Catalan municipal authorities during the Reapers' War — the revolt against Philip IV that briefly placed Catalonia under French protection. With Castilian forces pressing into the region and normal financial channels disrupted, towns like Manresa were effectively issuing their own money to keep local commerce functioning. The "wide shield" variety is a recognized die distinction from Cal#184, separating it from the narrow-shield strikes of the same type.
