Obverse description Central field displays the interlaced monogram 'AG' (for Anton Günther) within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a rope or cable border. The peripheral Latin legend, separated by dot stops, reads A · G · CO: OL · E · D · D · I · E · K, abbreviating the full title of Anton Günther, Count of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst, Lord in Jever and Kniphausen. The overall design is characteristic of the hammered solidus type, struck on an irregular planchet with a somewhat coarse die style typical of mid-seventeenth-century German minor coinage.
