Obverse description Central pellet boss from which radiate multiple lines forming a multi-pointed star or wheel design, interspersed with small crosses at the terminals of the radiating lines. The overall composition creates a dynamic sunburst or rayed motif typical of East Anglian sceattas of the mid-eighth century. The field is plain silver, and the design is contained within a beaded border encircling the entire coin. The style reflects the Germanic artistic tradition prevalent in Anglo-Saxon coinage of this period.
