Ibrahim Shah ruled Kashmir briefly in 1528–29, his reign squeezed between the repeated depositions and restorations that characterized late Kashmir Sultanate dynastic politics. The sultanate was by this point severely weakened, with Chak tribal power increasingly dictating who held the throne in name. Coins from such fractured reigns are rarely struck in quantity, and the sasnu denomination itself — a regional silver unit specific to Kashmir's monetary tradition — survives from this period in very small numbers.
