Obverse description Central field occupied by the Portuguese royal coat of arms, presented as a shield with a grid pattern of castles and quinas (escutcheons), rendered in a bold, stylized hammered relief characteristic of Indo-Portuguese coinage. The mint letters D and O appear divided on either side of the shield, identifying the Dio (Diu) mint. The overall composition is compact and strongly struck within the coin's round flan.

Reverse description Central field depicts a stylized standing figure, likely Saint Thomas (São Tomé), rendered in the crude but distinctive hammered style typical of Portuguese Indian gold coinage of the early eighteenth century. The date is divided across the field in two segments. A small star or rosette ornament is visible to the right of the figure. The design is characteristic of the Indo-Portuguese hammered gold series struck at Diu under João V.
