Obverse description Central field bearing the Shi'ite Kalima (Islamic declaration of faith) rendered in bold nastaliq script, with the text disposed across the flan in multiple registers characteristic of Qajar hammered coinage. The inscription is surrounded by decorative dotted ornaments scattered throughout the field. The irregular flan and hand-struck technique produce a characteristic uneven relief, with the calligraphic strokes displaying the fluid, cursive quality typical of late 18th-century Iranian die-engraving.
