| Reverse description | The reverse presents a compact mint legend enclosed within a lobed, ogival cartouche in the centre of an otherwise plain, flat field. The Arabic inscription, arranged in two lines, reads 'Zarb Dar al-Saltana Qazvin' (struck at the seat of sovereignty, Qazvin), identifying the issuing mint. The cartouche is surmounted by a pointed arch finial and terminates in a curved base, typical of Afsharid mint-mark cartouche design. The surrounding field is unadorned and exhibits characteristic hammer-struck surface texture. The coin's irregular flan shape and flan splits are consistent with hand-struck production practices of the mid-eighteenth century. |
