| Obverse description | Hammered silver flan bearing Persian/Nastaliq script legend in two registers divided by a horizontal line. The upper register contains the name and title of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah (in whose name the coin was struck, per the 'in the name of' convention), while the lower register carries additional regnal or mint formula. The inscriptions are rendered in bold, flowing Nastaliq calligraphy typical of Maratha imitation rupees of the early 18th century. A small decorative ornament appears above the upper legend. |

| Additional information |
The Torgal jagir was held by the Shinde Torgalkar family as subordinate chiefs under the Kolhapur branch of the Chhatrapati line — itself a rival claimant to the Maratha throne descended from Rajaram rather than Shivaji's main line through Shahu. The right to strike coinage at this level of the Maratha feudal hierarchy was a jealously guarded privilege, and issues from minor jagirdars like Torgal are poorly documented in contemporary mint records, making die linkage studies the primary tool for sequencing them.
