| Obverse description | The obverse is entirely occupied by a bold, calligraphic Arabic legend executed in the nasta'liq style and divided into two registers by a horizontal line across the field. The upper register bears the opening phrase of the royal titulature, and the lower register completes the dynastic formula proclaiming Nader Shah as King of Kings and Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction (Sahib-Qiran). Small floral rosette ornaments punctuate the lower field, and a beaded or dotted border encircles the entire design, which fills the flan to its rim in a manner characteristic of Afsharid hammered coinage. |
