Obverse description The entire obverse field is occupied by a two-line Persian royal legend in bold Nasta'liq calligraphy, reading 'Hast Sultan bar Salatin-i Jahan, Shah-i Shahan Nader Sahib-Qiran' (He is Sultan over the Sultans of the World, King of Kings Nader, Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction). The inscription is rendered in large, sweeping script that fills the flan from rim to rim, with the upper line separated from the lower by a ruled horizontal dividing line. Small floral or rosette ornaments are visible at intervals near the rim, serving as decorative separators. The execution is characteristic of Afsharid hammered coinage, with deeply struck, confident letter forms that display the bold aesthetic of mid-eighteenth century Iranian mint work.
