| Obverse description | Central field bearing a bold Persian inscription in Nasta'liq script arranged in two or three lines, with the royal legend referencing the ruling Sikh Maharaja of Patiala. A double horizontal line divides the legend, characteristic of Mughal-derived rupee coinage. The inscription occupies the majority of the flan, with further marginal script running along the upper and lower borders of the coin. |
