| Obverse description | The obverse displays a multi-line Persian inscription executed in bold Nasta'liq calligraphic script, arranged in horizontal registers across the coin's field. The legend reads in praise of Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha and identifies the mint as Māzandarān with the regnal year 1170 AH. The text is framed by a stylized floral and foliate border characteristic of late Safavid and Afsharid minting traditions. The deeply struck lettering shows pronounced relief against the hammered silver surface, with ornamental flourishes filling the interstitial spaces between lines. |
