Obverse description The obverse bears multiple lines of bold Nasta'liq Arabic-script calligraphy arranged in two registers separated by a horizontal ruled line, filling the entire field to the coin's irregular flan edge. The upper register carries the royal epithet and titles of the Mughal emperor Alamgir II, while the lower register continues the regal formula. The legends are deeply struck in high relief with characteristic Mughal hammered workmanship, and the flan edges show the slightly uneven outline typical of hand-cut silver blanks of the period.
