Reverse description A large Imperial double-headed eagle displayed in the centre of the field, with wings spread and both heads turned outward, each surmounted by a separate crown with a larger imperial crown above uniting them. The eagle holds a sceptre in its right talon and an orb in its left; the design of the orb's cross varies by die variety. A circular Cyrillic legend runs along the beaded rim, incorporating the Slavonic date notation. The composition is boldly engraved in a style transitional between traditional Muscovite and Western European heraldic conventions.
