Obverse description Draped bust of Empress Catherine I facing left, depicted in mourning attire with a fur-trimmed mantle, her hair elaborately dressed and adorned with a pearl strand. The effigy fills the central field in high relief, rendered in the Baroque style characteristic of early Russian Imperial coinage. A Cyrillic legend encircles the portrait along the entire periphery, separated from the milled border by a fine inner circle.

Reverse description A crowned double-headed eagle displayed at the centre of the field, each head surmounted by a separate Imperial crown and both heads surmounted by a larger central crown; the eagle holds a sceptre in its right talon and an orb in its left. The Cyrillic inscription encircles the eagle along the periphery, incorporating the denomination and the date 1725 flanking the upper crown.
